Caliber · Last updated October 28, 2026
Caliber is a strength-training app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what Caliber stores, why, who else handles it, and how you can export or delete it. In short: your data is used only to run Caliber for you. It is never sold, never used for advertising, and never shared with anyone except the services that keep Caliber running.
What Caliber stores
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your account: email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or Apple | To sign you in and keep your data in your account |
| Training: programs, workouts, sets, effort ratings, readiness check-ins, notes | Logging, history, progress and autoregulated loads |
| Body and nutrition: body weight, foods, water, caffeine, fasting, nutrition targets | Trends, targets and the nutrition features |
| Profile details you enter (for example age, height, sex) and settings | Calorie estimates and how the app behaves |
| Progress photos you add | Your check-ins; stored privately so only you can see them |
| Heart rate average and maximum for workouts recorded on Apple Watch | Shown with that workout in your history |
| The time of each AI food request | To limit requests per hour; nothing else is kept about the request |
Your data is kept on your devices and in your Caliber account so it stays in step across your iPhone and Apple Watch and survives reinstalling the app.
Apple Health
- During a workout on Apple Watch, Caliber reads your heart rate and active energy to show them live, and saves the finished workout (with heart rate and active energy) to Apple Health.
- During a cardio session on Apple Watch or iPhone, Caliber also reads the distance you covered, to fill in your log. Strength and cardio sessions you finish are saved to Apple Health as workouts.
- Only a workout's average and maximum heart rate, time in your target zone and distance leave your devices, as part of that session in your Caliber account. Caliber never uploads other Health data.
- Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with third parties.
- You can change Caliber's Health access at any time in the Health app, or on Apple Watch in Settings → Health.
Location (optional)
- If you train at both a gym and home, you can save each spot in Settings. When you open Caliber on a lift day, the iPhone app checks your location once and suggests the matching equipment.
- Your saved spots and your location stay on your iPhone. They are never uploaded, synced or shared, and Caliber never tracks your location in the background.
- You can remove saved spots in Settings, or turn location off for Caliber in iPhone Settings → Caliber → Location.
AI food estimates
When you use Estimate, Describe a meal or a meal photo, the text or photo you provide is sent from our server to Anthropic, which runs the Claude AI model, to work out the foods and nutrition. Caliber does not keep the photo or text after the answer comes back; only the foods you choose to add are saved to your log. Anthropic handles this under its commercial terms and privacy policy. These features are optional; you can always add foods yourself.
Friends
Comparing progress with friends is opt-in. Nothing is shared with other people unless you turn sharing on, and then only the summary you choose to share.
Launch list
If you sign up for launch news on caliberperpetual.com, we keep only your email address, to send you news about Caliber's launch. It is stored with our database provider (Supabase), never sold or shared, and you can ask to be removed at any time by emailing privacy@caliberperpetual.com.
Who handles your data
- Supabase hosts your account, data and photos, encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and protected so each account can only reach its own data.
- Anthropic processes food text and photos for the AI features, as described above.
- Google or Apple confirm who you are if you choose to sign in with them.
- Apple stores the workouts Caliber saves to Apple Health, under your control.
Caliber has no advertising, no analytics trackers, and no data brokers, and does not track you across other apps or websites.
Exporting and deleting your data
- Export: Profile → Back up your data saves everything as a file you keep. You can also export workouts and food logs as CSV.
- Delete: Profile → Account → Delete account permanently deletes your account, all of your data and your photos from our systems. Workouts already saved to Apple Health stay in Health, where you can delete them yourself.
Children
Caliber is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date, and significant changes will be shown in the app.
